The ‘Vitesse GOALS’ Programme
Vitesse GOALS is the most recent project of Vitesse Betrokken. GOALS is currently being delivered within five primary schools in a socially deprived neighbourhood of Arnhem. The programme stands for Healthy and Active Lifestyle and includes weekly sessions from Vitesse coaches.
Children with high obesity or low physical and sporting engagement participate in a twelve week after school programme. The programme also includes measuring and testing health improvements throughout the course of the programme.
Following the 12 week programme, the Vitesse coaches provide pathways for the participants to engage with local sport clubs and monitor there further progress. GOALS also includes the children’s parents in the sport sessions and they receive information about alternative affordable healthy food options. In addition to the programme Vitesse provides support to the school regarding the preparation and optimisation of a healthy school policy.
