UEFA Physical Activity Toolkit

UEFA Physical Activity Toolkit

This toolkit has been produced as part of the Children in the City project for Romania, coordinated by the World Heart Federation (WHF) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), and implemented in Romania by the Romanian Heart Foundation (RHF).

The Children in the City Campaign is aimed at emphasising the importance of physical activity and creating healthy habits which can last for life, by allowing children and young people to have fun playing sports, including football. The toolkit is intended to offer key information on the importance of maintaining physically active lifestyles amongst children with specific focus on both girls and boys aged 7-12 years old, especially those who are less active.

The toolkit is written in simple, non-technical language and has been developed for use by physical activity ‘activators’ – i.e. school teachers, community leaders, sports club coaches, parents and other family members. All of these activators have a role in educating children on the importance of daily physical activity for both short-term and long-term health and wellbeing. This toolkit provides key information on recommended levels of physical activity for children, how to turn inactive children in active ones, and how this can be embedded in their daily routines.
