ENABLE – Conflict and cooperation in Swedish football

ENABLE Sweden has translated its book ”Conflict and cooperation – Dialogue-based work in Swedish football: challenges and working methods” to English. The aim of this book is to highlight the role of supporters in the decision-making processes.

The authors allowed individuals from a supporter background to cast some light on the interaction between some of football’s most prominent actors. For this purpose,  a number of writers with links to the Swedish supporter environment contribute a chapter each on the theme of ‘cross-party interaction’. The editors Anders Almgren, Filip Lundberg, Neil Wiliams and Jonas Havelund have helped to guide the choice of subject matter, but have striven to ensure that the contributions are the authors’ own narratives. The authors were asked to provide concrete examples.

ENABLE is a project funded by the Gålö Foundation in Stockholm, made up of participants from Sweden, Denmark and the UK. Its operations are based on partnership and cooperation between Swedish football’s key actors – the clubs, the national football organisations, the supporters and the police – together with
academic expertise and professionals from football in the above mentioned countries. The aim is to support Swedish football and its partners’ development in relation to safety and security, with an evidence-based method founded on the Swedish football environment and internationally recognised research.
