Winning Tie

The ‘Winning tie’ program is about breaking social stigma and integrating individuals with special needs into a society where most people don’t. Throughout the program, individuals with special needs are linked to volunteers. Through weekly meetings the beneficiaries interact with one another on equal grounds. Beneficiaries with special needs win, because they feel part of ‘the normal society’, respected and (personally) supported by the volunteers. Perhaps even more our young volunteers win, because they get to train and serve in leadership roles as assistant coaches, preparing to become the community leaders of the future.

To top off the social winning tie, all beneficiaries participate in local and national tournaments and are invited to watch Hapoel Tel-Aviv FC’s home games.

In a nutshell:
  • Connecting volunteers to individuals with special needs.
  • All ages: children, adolescents and adults.
  • Weekly professional soccer practices and social meetings.
Main learning goals include:
  • Stimulate tolerance and open-mindedness.
  • Break social stigma, prejudice and stereotypes.
  • Establish a sense of belongingness where all are worthy.
