Rangers Charity Foundation- Fit For Life

Our Football Fans in Training participants have enjoyed the Rangers programme so much – and have changed their lives so dramatically – that they were keen to continue meeting regularly to exercise together.

Many fans who had completed the FFIT course asked us to provide a continuation programme and we have delivered with this follow up course designed to keep them motivated and on track with their health and fitness goals.

Over 30 FFIT graduates now meet at Ibrox on a weekly basis to go through their paces with our expert coaches in a programme funded by the Rangers Charity Foundation.

“Dramatic improvements in their health, knowledge and motivation”

Gary Gibson, the Rangers Charity Foundation’s Senior Community Executive, explains, “Our Football Fans in Training courses have achieved astounding results, with participants reporting dramatic improvements in their health, knowledge and motivation.  Of the 64 participants involved in our last programmes, a total weight loss 52 stone 12 pounds was achieved over a 12 week period!

“But of course it’s important for these changes to become part of their daily life, and not just for the duration of the course, so we were delighted to develop and fund this follow on programme for those who were keen to get extra support and motivation going forward.  It’s been great to see them all back, and to watch them improve even further each week.”

A programme for males and females aged between 35 and 65 years old

Football Fans in Training, which is funded by the SPFL Trust, works with males and females aged between 35 and 65 years old who are overweight and provides them with an opportunity to improve their fitness, lose weight and train with fellow supporters.

Sessions are split between classroom health education and physical activity sessions and covers issues such as weight management, exercise, diet and healthy eating, alcohol awareness, motivation and well-being.
