FC Robinstijn and PSV

It is the most normal thing in the world for many children to watch a PSV match in the Philips Stadium. Not so for Robin Faasen. He suffers from a rare metabolic disease. FC Robinstijn and PSV give children like Robin a day they will never forget.

4Robin’s adventure begins when his cousin Cas sub- mits a wish for him at school. He hopes that his nephew, who is nine years old at the time, can get a football signed by PSV’s players. Robin is absolutely crazy about football and PSV in particular. On Sunday 22 February, FC Robinstijn’s Ed and Noortje ring the door of the Faasen family. They give Robin his football, but he has to collect the signatures himself.

A dream come true
A video message from Stijn Schaars, one of the foun- dation’s ambassadors, clarifies things for Robin. Today, he gets to attend the match between PSV and FC Dordrecht as an honorary guest. Together with his parents Ingrid and Anton, his sister Marlou and his cousin Cas, he leaves for the Philips Stadium. He will finally see his heroes Georginio Wijnaldum and Memphis in the flesh. A dream come true.

FAN of the match3
Once the group arrives at the Philips Stadium, they are met with one surprise after another. Robin also gets to be FAN of the match today. He gets to walk onto the pitch holding Phoxy’s hand. Just when the excitement threatens to overwhelm him, PSV cap- tain Georginio Wijnaldum is there to put Robin’s mind at ease. Robin walks onto the football field with a satisfied feeling. ‘I got this close to Memphis,’ he shouts excitedly when he and his family sit down in the stands.

Waiting for Memphis
The party does not end when PSV wins the match 3-0. Robin gets to visit the PSV player section and the catacombs of the Philips Stadium. He sees all his heroes pass by one by one: Adam Maher, Andrés Guardado, Jorrit Hendrix, Luuk de Jong and Luciano Narsingh, they all sign Robin’s football. Now all that is left to do is wait for Memphis. The striker is one of the last to leave the dressing room, but he is worth the wait. Memphis treats his biggest fan to a high five, a signature on the ball and a great picture of the two together.

The gloves of Jeroen Zoet

Just when Robin believes things cannot get any better, goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet approaches him. He has one more special surprise for him. A wonderful golden box opens to reveal an even greater gift: Jeroen’s official goalkeeper’s gloves with his signature on them. That truly makes Robin’s day. He returns home carrying a large bag of gifts, his beloved signed football and a heap of unforgettable memories.
