FC Red Bull Salzburg – FC Red Bull Salzburg in your school
”FC Red Bull Salzburg in your school” is a projected started in 2010 by the club to encourage children to get active and participate in team-based sports.
FC Red Bull Salzburg have been visiting primary schools in the city and region of Salzburg since 2010. Each visit has brought great success to every participants.
The purpose of these visits is to help young children to have fun while getting more active and playing more sports with the help of PE lessons and the appearance of first-team players and Bullidibumm, the club’s mascot. The players are there to sign autographs and give valuable training tips to the children.
Youth coaches have also always been creating new training ideas and depositing them to PE teachers at the primary schools to use in the future. This helps the schools to have more variety in their future PE lessons, and helps the club to retain a sustainable presence in the local schools.
Results
In the 2014/15 season, 57 primary schools had been visited. The players and youth coaches had been able to discuss the important of sport and being active with around 6200 children and their teachers. Plenty of photos were also taken – including those with the Austrian Bundesliga’s trophy.
Christoph Leitgeb, the team’s midfielder, paid a visit and thoroughly enjoyed the trip. He summarised his experience by saying:
”It is great to see how much the kids are enjoying football and getting active. Having fun is particularly important for this age group, of course. That is exactly what we are trying to get across in our visits. Along with the training sessions, the new Austrian champions’ trophy is a real attraction for the schoolkids, of course.”
Besides visiting primary schools, FC Red Bull Salzburg have also run a school-leaving exam project with the Neumarkt Business School, playing an active role in helping school students to learn to plan and complete a practical project.
