FC Red Bull Salzburg – Charity Day

Together with the main sponsor Red Bull, FC Red Bull Salzburg regularly supports all activities of the Wings for Life Foundation. The club does so by hosting a yearly Charity Day to raise awareness of the Foundation and its goal.

Charity Day is a special event hosted by FC Red Bull Salzburg. Each year, the club dedicates a match day at the Red Bull Arena to give attention to the Wings for Life Foundation and its goals.

There are different activities to participate during a Charity Day. The club usually invites a number of representatives of various charitable and non-profit organisations to the match, which the club is in contact with and working on various projects for. In 2017, this number reached over 1,000.

The fans also play their part on this day, with one Euro from everyone at the stadium going to the Wings for Life Foundation. In 2017, there was also a unique signed shirts sale for the charity. Original signed home and away shirts from every players of the club were for sale one hour before the kick-off.

Results

In 2017, the proceeds which resulted from a one Euro donation from the club per fan and the sale of signed shirts came to an impressive 15,000 Euro. FC Red Bull Salzburg has made this sum available to the Wings for Life Foundation, which is working on spinal cord research.

Wolfgang Illek, Partnerships & Event Manager for Wings for Life, is delighted about the chance to work together:

”FC Red Bull Salzburg has been a strong partner for Wings for Life for many years. Thanks to the mutual appreciation and every donation made at the match, we can take our spinal cord research another step forward.”
