Aston Villa Foundation – Premier League Girls Football

The Premier League Girls Football programme is run jointly by the Premier League, Sport England, The FA and Football League Trust to encourage more females aged between 14 and 25 to take part in football.

The programme was launched in October 2013 and in the first year saw more than 20,000 females playing football.
The sessions have been delivered by 87 clubs from the Premier League and Football League.

Aston Villa’s PL Girls Football programme saw nearly 400 girls engaged in the project last season with 60% of these playing regularly.

The programme runs 10 satellite clubs at school venues across Birmingham, and also offers opportunities to play in football tournaments and represent Aston Villa against other football clubs across the country.

While the emphasis of the programme is on increasing participation, it works closely with the club’s Girls Development Centre with a clear pathway from participation to elite level.
Talented players from the programme could make it through to the girls development centre, centre of excellence and ultimately the Villa Ladies team.

If you are interested in finding out more, or want to know where your nearest satellite location is please contact Debbi Rawson on 0121 327 2299 or email debbi.rawson@avfc.co.uk.
