Zubair Moti, Fiona Taylor, James Hood and Ben Grant – More Speakers Featuring at the EFDN STEM Conference

EFDN is proud to present four more speakers that will take part in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Conference in Glasgow on the 29th of June! The aim of STEM activities is to make children digitally proficient, preparing them for their future through play. ‘Working with robots is not difficult but foremost a very interesting and fun way to teach children STEM and digital skills.’

Fiona Taylor will also be featuring as a speaker for the STEM EFDN Conference. As the Operations Manager at SPFL Trust, she oversees the successful day-to-day delivery of all SPFL Trust programmes. She is also responsible for the management of income into the charity, including trusts & grants, community fundraising, and corporate partnerships.

Starting her career with the Management Training Scheme at Jenners Department Store in Edinburgh, she then moved on to Falkirk Football Club where she got her first taste of working in Scottish Football. Fiona now says that there is no better way to start your working day than walking up the steps to Hampden!

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is an automotive company placing strong emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, by incorporating innovative technology, and engineering principles into the development and design of their luxury vehicles.

Product Owner at Jaguar Land Rover and STEM Ambassador, Zubair Moti will be one of the speakers featuring at the EFDN STEM conference on the 29th of June.

Zubair has worked at JLR for just shy of ten years, during which he has taken on different roles within the company. He currently works as a Product Owner within the Engineering department. His passion for engineering comes from an interest in technology at a young age – curious to find out how things were made. In his presentation, Zubair will talk about the work he and JLR are doing around STEM to inspire the next generation and why this is important.

Esports is an enabler of STEM outcomes for European Football Clubs. James Hood, Founder & CEO of Esports Scotland and Ben Grant, Head of Strategy for Esports Scotland, will both outline how competitive electronic gaming, in particular eFootball, can be used by football clubs and their respective community trusts to unlock STEM outcomes for young people across Europe.

Additionally, they will shed light on their involvement in the realm of education, highlighting the valuable intersection between Esports and education in the drawing Cyber Age. Their presentation will explain the links between engaging formalised Esports education, STEM outcomes, and helping young people find valuable employment in the modern workforce.

The Esports Scotland speakers, along with their remarkable journey in Esports, will also share real-life success stories to date, such as their education initiative with Angus Council, and explain how Esports can be used to augment European football clubs, and their associated community trusts. All over, combining the power of football and gaming to enhance STEM learning for the next generation.
