Zero Discrimination Day
On Zero Discrimination Day, 1 March, we celebrate the right of everyone to live a full and productive life and live it with dignity. Zero Discrimination Day highlights how people can become informed about and promote inclusion, compassion, peace and, above all, a movement for change. Zero Discrimination Day is helping to create a global movement of solidarity to end all forms of discrimination.
On this day our members and partners also know that there should be a movement for change so they use their voice in social media to inform their community and many more people about inclusion, compassion and peace.
At EFDN, we have various programmes to tackle this and to start the changing movement in our community. With these programmes, we want our community to become informed about and promote inclusion, compassion, peace and, above all, a movement for change.
All-in & Win: To increase knowledge & awareness to recognize discrimination in grassroots sports towards members of the LGBT+ community. Together with two academic institutions, the John Blankenstein Foundation and multiple hockey & football national associations, we aim for the acceptance of LGBT+ and creating a safe & inclusive sport climate for people who identify themselves within the LGBT+ label.
Main Objectives of All-in & Win:
- Tackle racism, discrimination, and violence against the LGBT+ community in sport
- Social inclusion in and through sport
- Promote social cohesion through sport
- Promote active citizenship
- Promote voluntary activity in sport
- Enhance social and bridging capital of athletes
- Creating a safer environment for athletes within their club or organization
Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC): Is anti-racism and anti-discrimination programme. Show Racism the Red Card uses the power of football and the status of football players to help tackle racism and other forms of discrimination in society. We have developed an educational programme addressing racism and other forms of discrimination in society. The educational programme focuses on what racism and discrimination are, where that comes from and how it affects people.
Main objectives of SRtRC:
- Raise awareness of diversity
- Foster tolerance and social cohesion
- Reduce physical and verbal violence linked to racism
- Make society aware of the negative impact of racism on individuals
- Produce European media campaigns and engage with multiplier clubs/ sport organisations
- Create high-quality, comprehensive, and transferable educational materials
