Preperation for Breaking Barriers through Football in Breda
This Tuesday (14th May) brought together the staff and youth leaders from EFDN members Fundação Benfica, Mifalot Foundation, NAC Breda and Bayer Leverkusen in Breda, Netherlands to prepare for the next Breaking Barriers through Football Youth Exchange, taking place in Breda from 26th May until 1st of May 2019. The exhange is a follow up from the successful ‘Breaking Barriers Through Football‘ Youth Exchange which took place in Tel Aviv, Israel in September last year.
The preparation meeting focused on creating a platform to discuss the planning process and the schedule for the exchange programme, finalising the exchange schedule, selecting topics for the group discussions, plan for the cultural evenings, ice breaker activities, group energizers for every morning and other everyday activities – were just some of the topics that were put forward and discussed in detail. The staff and youth leaders also had a chance to visit the food service provider, Jumbo food supermarket, and the accommodation to discuss the guidelines for implementing a code of conduct and Health & Safety regulations for the exchange programme week.
It is important to create a programme which has a deep understanding of what the youth in Europe face in today’s world and also allows for the various issues to be sufficiently discussed and dealt with over the period of a week. The one-day interaction was held to agree on the best way of creating an environment during the exchange programme week to ensure maximum added value for the participating youth and providing a substantial and have a long term positive impact on their lives.
