School classes from Wolfsburg visit the club through the Muuvit Audi BKK Health Day 2017

For the first time, the VfL organized the ‘Muuvit Audi BKK Health Day‘ on the grounds of the Volkswagen Arena. Last year, Audi BKK went directly to the schools, but this year they received an invitation from VfL Wolfsburg. Five classes were part of the Muuvit adventure, and during the last school week before the summer holidays they spent an exciting day focusing on nutrition, exercise and relaxation.

This is how a common day strengthens the community feeling”

Together with the Audi BKK, the soccer league team set up a diverse offer.  Anne, a healing practitioner, learned the children, which helps against excitement before classes. “You have to breathe deeply and slowly into the belly,” she explained to the interested pupils, who had formed a circle and held a so-called breath. For many of them it was a whole new experience. So while there was peace and quiet in the relaxation area, the intensity on the pitch was high: dribbling, shots and stilts courses were in the foreground.

The VfL modules provided a lot of fun. “The children are thrilled. Even the girls do everything and test themselves out. This is how a common day strengthens the community feeling and is a good thing to end the school year” said class teacher Gabriele List, who together with her colleague Christin Görges supervised the classes of the Brome primary school.

We have been part of the Muuvit programme for six years. The whole school is involved“she added. Besides the fun of the programme, the children were also taught about healthy nutrition. At the smoothie station, they tapped strawberries, apples and peeled bananas.

We would have had a theatrical performance, but they wanted to go to the Volkswagen Arena

Even footballers have to pay attention to a healthy diet and drink a lot” says young girl Joelle, drinking the homemade smoothie. “That tastes really good.” The eight-year-old Marike also has such a mixer at home. “Sometimes I help my mom, I definitely take the recipe with me.” Class teacher Angelika Schliephake concluded: “This is a nice event for the children. Actually, we would have had a theatrical performance, but they wanted to go to the Volkswagen Arena

While the visit of the VfL football world continued during the course of the health day, the pupils felt close to the Green & White while trying to improve their football skills. “I’ve tried everything. My shooting speed was the best, ” said the nine-year-old Finley Robert.

We are delighted to be able to get the pupils moving. The programme was well received. With such actions, we would like to strengthen the bond with the schools” explains Robin Joop from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) department of VfL Wolfsbrug.

The ‘Muuvit’ programme

Muuvit is a health and exercise programme (Muuvit website), where the children accumulate points on a daily basis through movement and healthy eating – during lessons, during breaks and during leisure time. Every form of movement counts, and all class members work together. The points correspond to Muuvit kilometers, which the class enters into a map and thus advances on their virtual journey through Europe. The VfL Wolfsburg, which has introduced the educational programme successfully tested in Finland for many years in the context of its “Move together” initiative , has been able to inspire more than 40,000 school children since 2009. The programme has also been supported by the VfL health partner, the Audi BKK, since 2015.
