Willem II Betrokken spring initiatives
In the spring of 2022, the CSR Branch Willem II Betrokken (Involved) of Dutch club Willem II Tilburg continued to work hard. In this update we take you through the projects and activities of recent times.
Libra Fit & Fun day
After more than two years of absence, it was finally time for the Libra Fit & Fundag again. The sports day, which was specially created to show children with a disability and their brothers and sisters how much fun sports can be, counted this year over 70 enthusiastic children and young people who could play sports with the players and staff of Willem II. The programme included various sports clinics such as fit football, wheelchair basketball, capoeira, pump track, table tennis and AmiGO (football shooter). The Libra Fit & Fund day is one of the social projects of Willem II Involved.
Rabo Willem II Food clinic
For the very first time, the Rabo Willem II Foodclinic, the closing event of the Rabo Willem II Foodtour, took place at the Koning Willem II stadium in March. Around 100 pupils from primary schools ‘t Schrijverke in Goirle, Hubertus in Tilburg and Willibrordus in Alphen were invited to participate in the Foodclinic, which consisted of four different parts: making a healthy lunch, a quiz, sports activities on the field and of course an official tour of the stadium. At the end of the day, the winner of the social project, chosen on the basis of vlogs sent in by the classes, was announced. The winning class was allowed to attend the Willem II – Vitesse match on 24 April.
Score a book! Half-time and whistle
At the beginning of March the annual rest for the Scoring a Book project took place. Kingo and the reading consultant visited De Vonder primary school to take stock of the progress of the participating classes. They watched Görkem Saglam’s video message together and did a lesson in reading and exercise at the same time. More than a month later, the so-called Whistle signal took place. A sporting event for all participating children in which the total number of books scored is also announced. Encouraged by first-team player Görkem Sağlam, 37 primary school classes read more than 4591 books within nine weeks.
