Werder Bremens Christmas tree jersey auction: Record amount for Foundation
An impressive 30,000 euros were raised for a good cause at the auction of Werder’s Tannenbaum jerseys. The auction of the jerseys worn by Bundesliga professionals, Werder women and eSPORTers resulted in several records and premieres. All of the proceeds will now go to the Werder Foundation, which is earmarked for funding the SPIELRAUM concept of the green-whites.
All three auctions ended on Sunday, January 2nd, 2022. The jerseys from the 4-1 away win at Hannover 96 brought in a total of 19,931 euros – and thus green and white record proceeds. Niclas Füllkrug’s shirt achieved the highest value at 1,950 euros, followed by Leonardo Bittencourt (1,500 euros) and Anthony Jung (1,250 euros), who scored his first goal for Werder in Hanover. Nine jerseys cracked the 1,000 euro mark. On the platform of the international partner that auctioned off the shirts , SVW made it into the auctions of the most popular Premier League clubs and achieved an average value per jersey like FC Barcelona.
A total of 6,929 euros were raised at the Werder women’s auction. Margarita Gidion achieved the highest value at 525 euros. A total of 22 jerseys were auctioned. Like the green and white eSPORT athletes, the Werder women were there for the first time. The auction of the four eSPORTS jerseys from the double game day of the Virtual Bundesliga against St. Pauli and VfL Bochum was a premiere. The shirts by Michael “MegaBit” Bittner, Fabio “Fifabio” Sabbagh, Ali “PredatorFIFA” Oskoui Rad and Max “Diviners” Gröne raised € 2,182.
What happens to the proceeds now? With the holistic SPIELRAUM concept, the association bundles its expertise in the field of children’s sport with the central goal of getting children and young people enthusiastic about sport and exercise and supporting them in their personal development. Werder is active in a total of 20 SPIELRÄUMEN in Bremen and Lower Saxony. A SPIELRAUM always consists of at least one daycare center, elementary school, secondary school, sports club, social agency for child and youth work and a communal facility.
In the SPIELRÄUMEN, weekly sport and exercise offers as well as regular events during the supervision time, leisure time and vacation time are instructed by trainers from SV Werder Bremen in cooperation with those responsible at the partner institutions.
