Werder Bremen players visit the Community Champions League workshops
Two special guests visited the workshops of the Community Champions League (CCL) that EFDN member Werder Bremen is carrying on at the WESERSTADION. Nuri Sahin and Lina Hausicke stopped by to say hello to the young participants and shared their experience and knowledge at the various workshops.
Werder Bremen is currently carrying on four different workshops (“Upcycling”, “Gambling, Social Media and Competitive Addiction”, “No Violence in Sports” and “First Aid”), with schools from eleven different neighborhoods of Bremen participating, for a total of 12 teams. By completing these workshops the teams can gain important points for the Community Champions League ranking, and at the same time the schoolchildren can learn something new about these important topics.
During the Upcycling workshop, school children made pennant chains and school banners using old waste material from SV Werder Bremen. These will decorate the venues of the CCL and the halls of the participating schools in the future. Meanwhile, at the workshop “No Violence in Sport” forms of violence were discussed and illustrated with practical examples taken from sport.
Former Werder professional Uli Borowka gave explicit insights into his own past during the “Addiction” workshop, explaining what addiction actually means and at the same time highlighting the different addiction potentials that could affect children and young people. During the first-aid course, the children learned how to give first aid and what has to be taken into account should an emergency occur. After completing this workshop the participant also obtained a “first-aid certificate”.
