Werder Bremen hosts workshops for Community Champions League
Werder Bremen used the winter break of the Community Champions League to host workshops on upcycling, addiction to games and social media and anti-discrimination and anti-violence.
The children that participate in the Community Champions League, a social street football competition that promotes volunteering, social cohesion and Fair Play, met in the press conference room of the stadium in Bremen. After a short introduction, the programme participants learned, for example, how to create pennants or fan banners from old textiles or what social media addiction actually means. In a workshop using the NOVIS methodology, the children discussed how violence in sports can be prevented and handled.
The children did not only meet their Community Champions League teammates but also worked in groups with participants from other schools and neighbourhoods. The participants could collect points for their team through active participation in the workshops. Werder Bremen got support from other experts like the foundation of former professional player Uli Borowka which focuses on the prevention of addictions.
