“Welcome Through Football” at Apollon Limassol FC
An unforgettable experience on a great European night for the Apollon Limassol FC was experienced by fifteen young children who participated in the “Welcome Through Football” program of the EFDN (European Football Development Network).
The children, after being guided around the grounds of the GSP and experiencing the preparations and the atmosphere of a European match up close, watched Apollo’s attempt to reach a historic victory against the leader of the Dutch league AZ Alkmaar.
Apollon Limassol was selected for the 2nd consecutive year by the European Football Development Network to participate in the European Union program, which aims to host and adapt refugees and more specifically young children to our society through football.
This is a particularly important social action for the Cypriot club, as its participation in such programs is recognized internationally, for the great social work it offers to their community and the entire society.
The “Welcome Through Football” program, beyond the adaptation and hosting of refugees, aimed to create team spirit and strengthen the children’s personality, to create a positive environment for children in their society, as well as to promote ” Fair play”.
Their team, following the guidelines of the European Union, the UEFA Foundation for Children and the EFDN organization, created a plan, with the main goal of providing joy and smiles to children who do not have the opportunity to enjoy the simple and important things in life and to live and feel the magic of the most popular sport on the planet.
