Walking Football in Wolfsburg
On the 12th of November, the first Walking Football Tournament in Germany took place at the Wolfsburger SoccaFive Arena. A total of 5 teams, three teams from VfL Wolfsburg and two teams of SV Werder Bremen, participated in the tournament. Before the tournament started, the guys from Bremen participate at a guided tour through the Stadium which was held by representatives from Wolfsburg. At the end of the tour, both teams had a dinner at the fan area.
The first point of the agenda was a Information event about Walking Football, where all teams received an insight into the fundamental rules and the progress of this new sport. Later on, the participants received a one-hour training session before the tournament kicked off.
The teams played against each other for ten minutes per game. Even if the fun of the common sport was most important, the Wolfsburgers showed themselves ambitious and occupied the first three places. Subsequently, all the participants received a certificate and pennants of the clubs were exchanged. With buns and beverages, the athletes took a review about the entire day, and new friendships were created. Next year SV Werder Bremen will organise the 2nd Walking Football tournament in Bremen. The teams hope that other teams from Germany and even other countries will join the next time.
