Vitesse Betrokken links its projects to the SDG’s

Vitesse Betrokken links its projects to the sustainability goals (SDGs) of the UN. These 17 goals were communicated by the UN as world goals for sustainable development. They are built on the success of the Millennium Development Goals while including new areas such as climate change, economic inequality, innovation, sustainable consumption or peace and justice. The goals are also interconnected which is often the key to success when working with them.

To ensure that the projects of Vitesse Betrokken match these goals, SPECO intern Toon Henkens will conduct research to develop a tailor-made approach for this linkage. The research must answer the question of how the association between Vitesse and the SDGs can be stimulated through communication. That brings with it some interesting challenges.

“I will also research other organisations that have started working on this topic. Their communication approach gives ideas and can give a picture of the return on investment. It is also important to find out whether these organisations have succeeded in getting their stakeholders to take action themselves and what means were used to do so. This will show which target groups are attracted by this initiative and how big the impact of SDGs is on the environment. Ultimately, the return on investment will then be determined.”

EFDN AND THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Sport, including football has proven to be a cost-effective and flexible tool in promoting peace and development objectives. Our work shows us on a daily basis that football has the power to change lives.

We are convinced that football is a powerful tool with the potential to tackle challenges entailed in each of the 17 SDG’s. Together with its members and partners, EFDN is aiming at working towards new milestones in CSR in football.
