VfL Wolfsburg installs additional e-charging stations
By supporting the UN “Race to Zero” campaign, the Wolves have set themselves a goal that is ambitious. Now, the implementation of another project which is part of the initiative has begun, namely the expansion of the e-charging infrastructure. A total of twelve additional charging stations, each with two parking spaces, will be installed at the VfL-Center over the next three to four weeks so that a further 24 charging points will be available for the vehicles of the professional footballers, the management and the employees of VfL Wolfsburg from March owards.
“First step on the way to net zero”
“We are very pleased that with the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the e-charging infrastructure at the VfL Center, we have taken the first step on the road to achieving our goal of net zero in the greenhouse gas emissions we generate. Of course, we still have a lot of work ahead of us, but by supporting e-mobility we are showing that we don’t just pay lip service to climate protection and the CO2-neutral football business, but that we live it authentically and sustainably”, said VfL Managing Director Michael Meeske, who personally lent a hand and took up the spade together with representatives of VfL partners Compleo and Cubos.
More electric service vehicles in the future
The electrification of the VfL fleet vehicles, with which VfL is contributing to climate-friendly mobility, is one of many building blocks in the club’s plan to achieve green zero. In the future, professionals will increasingly use company cars from the all-electric ID. family from Volkswagen. Together with external experts, VfL has developed a binding roadmap based on scientifically sound targets as part of its support for Race to Zero. Compared with the reference year 2017/2018, this results in a 55 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
