Tottenham students take part in Barcelona Tournament with the Foundation

A group of students with learning disabilities, supported by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, took part in a bespoke football tournament in Barcelona during a two-day trip.

The nine participants included young adults from the Barnet and Southgate Disabilities Centre of Excellence, which is delivered in partnership with the Foundation and provides specialist education and PE sessions dedicated to the specific needs of students with complex learning and physical disabilities.

The tournament took place at the home ground of Spanish second tier team Club Gimnastic de Tarragona, where the tottenham Foundation side competed against other young people with learning disabilities from Spain and the Netherlands, eventually finishing in a credible fourth place.

Dan Slaughter, Inclusion Development Officer, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: “The whole trip has been a fantastic experience for our students. They got the chance to play in a professional football stadium as well as interact with young people from different countries. The improvement in their communication, teamwork and confidence has been amazing to see.
