Together against loneliness: ADO Den Haag joins forces

Councilwoman Kavita Parbhudayal of Care, Youth and Public Health gave the green light for the ‘Soeper Winter’ at the Stadium of ADO Den Haag. During these dark and colder winter months, hundreds of volunteers weekly surprise elderly people in the region of The Hague with a visit and a free soup. The full proceeds of the ADO Den Haag Christmas Ball Action will also go to this initiative. The Christmas Ball Action made it possible for fans to order an autographed ADO Den Haag Christmas bauble for their trees.

In a line, the cars with volunteers drove through the drive-thru on the parking lot of ADO Den Haag. They came to pick up the thousands of portions of soups that have been made in the kitchens of various catering establishments in The Hague, including the kitchen of the Cars Jeans Stadium of ADO Den Haag. At an appropriate distance, the soups were distributed at various senior complexes in the city. With a smile and a chat, because that’s what the Soeper Winter stands for: spreading a little extra love together throughout the region.

After an appeal by the district director of Loosduinen Mustapha El Boumeshouli not to forget people in Loosduinen, Westland horticulturists, Restaurant Villa Ockenburgh and the Participatie Keuken have joined forces to encourage people who need it. It soon became clear that this initiative should not be limited to Loosduinen alone. They joined forces with Koninklijke Horeca Nederland and in just a few weeks’ time this idea grew into a large-scale collaboration against loneliness in this corona winter. ADO Den Haag is therefore also connected in a facilitating role. Everyone helps along. Over 24,000 kilos of tomatoes have already been donated to this campaign by various growers in the Westland region. Ten thousand trays, dozens of kilos of herbs, not to mention the indescribable amount of energy and love that all connected parties and volunteers put into this, makes this the most delicious soup of this winter.

Over the next winter months, more than twenty organisations will give extra love and attention to everyone who could use a helping hand. With a small gesture of a nice cup of soup and a chat they will make sure that it will be a super or Soeper Winter. For more information visit www.soeperwinter.nl.
