Today Marks the World Mental Health Day!

At EFDN, we join the global community in recognizing World Mental Health Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness of mental health issues and promoting the well-being of individuals around the world. This day serves as an important reminder of the importance of mental health and the vital role that awareness, advocacy, and support play in improving the lives of millions.

Several members of the EFDN network, including Juventus FC, Burnley FC, Foundation 92, Big Hearts Community Trust, Rangers Charity Foundation, Liverpool FC, City in the Community and Everton in the Community are contributing to the recognition of this day by organizing various activities and campaigns to support mental health awareness. Through their initiatives, they are working to create environments where individuals feel empowered to discuss mental health challenges openly, promoting inclusivity and understanding within their communities.

Grassroots organizations, youth movements, and mental health advocates have increasingly taken the lead in addressing mental health issues. Utilizing digital platforms, social networks, and community-based approaches, they have been able to reach underserved populations, offering vital support and creating safe spaces for open discussion. These innovative approaches are reshaping how mental health care is delivered and how we, as a society, understand mental health. However, challenges remain, particularly around access to care, combating stigma, and ensuring that mental health initiatives are sustainable and effective long-term.

As the 2030 deadline for the SDGs approaches, mental health remains a key component in creating a world where no one is left behind. Through our collective efforts, we can ensure that mental health is recognized as a universal human right, and that everyone, everywhere, has access to the care they need.

Raising Awareness and Saving Lives with Movember

Movember has launched the Move for Mental Health initiative to raise funds for men’s health, helping to tackle mental health issues, suicide, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. Every hour, 60 men are lost to suicide globally, and through Move, The Order of Mo remembers them by encouraging participants to run or walk 60 miles over a month or in one go.
This campaign not only motivates individuals to get active and reconnect with the outdoors but also inspires others while raising crucial funds for life-saving health projects. By participating, you can help change and save lives, showing solidarity with those affected and lifting the spirits of those around you.
