Third phase Scoring for Health kicked off at the Oude Meerdijk

Friday 14th of October saw the start of the third phase of the Scoring for Health project. Over 150 children came to the stadium of FC Emmen to take part in various activities.

Seven schools spread across the municipalities of Borger-Odoorn, Coevorden and Emmen are taking part in the Scoring for Health programme this school year. Over the next ten weeks, pupils from grades 6, 7 and 8 will work on a specially developed workbook dedicated to healthy eating and exercise. In the first week the pupils were introduced to the two topics and last Friday it was time for the kick-off in stadium De Oude Meerdijk.

During the kick-off, fun games such as ‘tic, tac, toe’ and ‘rock, paper, scissors relay’ were played. But participants’ motor skills were also tested through the ‘4-ssen test’. This test has four parts that help to get a better understanding of motor skills. Based on your age, you need to be able to perform a certain exercise. The children had to stand on one leg for as long as possible and they were assessed in how many jumps they covered nine metres on one leg.

In addition, the young participants signed the ‘Scoring for Health contract’ like true professionals. By signing, they promise to work fanatically on the workbook for the next 10 weeks and try to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
