The Real Betis Foundation takes football to Equatorial Guinea by donating goals to schools
The Real Betis Foundation continues one more year with Betis in Equatorial Guinea. Together with the Town Hall of the Sevillian municipality of Dos Hermanas, the green and white entity has taken football to the African country with the donation of sports material.
Specifically, various sports equipment has been delivered, including eight goals and their accessories that have been installed in four schools in Equatorial Guinea: SOS Aldeas Infantiles, La Salle Bomudi, La Salle de Lea and Colegio Privado Malfinsa 2. Through this donation, Real Betis, its Foundation and the Dos Hermanas Town Hall encourage the promotion of a healthy lifestyle among the young students of these schools.
This is not the first time that the Real Betis Foundation and the Nazarene Town Hall have joined forces in a social action in Equatorial Guinea. In 2021, both entities provided the essential equipment so that the children of the Orphanage School in Malabo could receive their classes in equipped spaces and with the appropriate materials.
“The great work that the Real Betis Balompié Foundation and the Guinean entities that collaborate with Benjamín Zarandona carry out in the area. In previous years, containers have been sent with humanitarian aid, products and materials of basic necessity, and now sports infrastructure has been supplied, which will allow, through sport, the boys and girls of these areas, to be cared for in programmes of food, school assistance, social coexistence, in short, to improve the quality of life of the whole area.”
Agustín Morón, Spokesperson for the Dos Hermanas Town Council and Head of the International Development Cooperation programmes in the Nazarene consistory, an entity that collaborates in the project, emphasises
The Foundation’s International Development Cooperation Programme
For eight seasons now, Real Betis and Benjamín have been running the project ‘Sumando en Educación’ in Equatorial Guinea. The desire to excel, humility and respect are some of the values of Real Betis Balompié that the sporting entity spreads in the African country through this social project.
Every year, the former Real Betis player travels to Equatorial Guinea to bring to the children all the sports material donated by the Real Betis Foundation so that the girls and boys of this country can play football. This social and cultural work is carried out with 20 children between 12 and 13 years old. On each trip, Benjamín spends several days training with the children in the project, in coordination with the coaches from the different schools in the area, applying a methodology similar to that used by the Real Betis Balompié youth academy. The main objective is to transmit the values on which the Foundation’s work is focused and to help them to grow both athletically and personally. In addition to sports training, Benjamín Zarandona provides training in the values of the Club: humility, commitment, team spirit, honesty and the desire to improve. Educating through football to improve the lives of young people in Equatorial Guinea.
