The new concept of FC St. Pauli: the Awareness Team
Everything is ready: from the home game against Hertha BSC, the Awareness Teams of FC St. Pauli will be available to all visitors to the Millerntor to provide support with possible problems.
With almost 30’000 people at the Millerntor stadium for every home game, the possibility of conflicts and crossing borders is present. In fact, all visitors share responsibility for an atmosphere where everyone can feel comfortable and safe, but what people perceive as crossing boundaries can be very different, leading to possible problems.
The basis for the work of the Awareness Teams is a concept that was developed jointly by the club, fan shop and representatives of the AK Awareness fan initiative.
From the home game against Hertha BSC, if anyone feels threatened or harrassed, the “Paulin” Team will be available for them, just from a name away.
The team, made by volounteers, will be available from two hours before to two hours after the game, and can be recognised by the purple vests with “AWARENESS” written on them. To receive their help, people can also use the code word “Paulin” as a way to get their support easily and discreetly.
The volounteers will be placed not only on the stands inside the stadium, but also in the fan shop, the museum, the fan room, the clubhouse and the stands outside of the stadium.
