The future is in your hands

The Real Sociedad Fundazioa has been doing a lot of good work recently with children in their area, giving them opportunities to learn and to grow. Here are some highlights of their work.

There were five special days for the most txikis. The students from the San Sebastian schools Amara Berri de Ferrerías, Jakintza, Katalina Erauso, Intxaurrondo Hegoa, Ibai, The English School, Maria Reina, Altza Herri Ikastetxea and Amara Berri de Morlans have been lucky enough to be part of the ninth edition of the Txikiciclo, Organized one more year by Real Sociedad Fundazioa and our section of underwater activities.

During these days they have visited the Donostia Aquarium, seen different videos, and carried out activities related to care and respect for our oceans.

In this way, a wonderful edition of the Txikiciclo closes, having brought the marine world closer to the txikis and making them aware that it must be protected. They will be the ones to take care of him in the near future.

Final of CIMASUB 2022

On the other hand, the 46th edition of the Donostia – San Sebastián International Underwater Film Series (CIMASUB 2022) comes to an end tomorrow. This new edition began on Thursday and for three days high-quality works will be screened, making known different seabeds from around the world through the presentation of several short films.

The primary students of Amara Berri de Ferrerías have been the ones who have inaugurated this new edition, organized by our Subaquatic section with the collaboration of the Real Sociedad Fundazioa.

The morning has started with great enthusiasm on the part of the txikis. The first thing they did was enter the Donostia Aquarium auditorium and saw a projection on caring for the sea and how to protect it from the rubbish problem. This was followed by the awarding of prizes to the winners of each class of the contests organized by the Real Sociedad Fundazioa in which, through handicrafts, they have staged the problem of pollution in the sea. The lucky ones have taken home several gifts as well as applause from the entire audience.

Then came one of the funniest moments, the txikis have visited the entire Aquarium, the sharks being the great attraction of the tour. A beautiful morning that has served them to immerse themselves in the marine world.

During the next four days it will be the turn of the students of Jakintza, Katalina Erauso, Intxaurrondo Hegoa, Ibai, The English School, Maria Reina, Altza Herri Ikastetxea and Amara Berri de Morlans. They will carry out activities similar to those of today, all under the same theme: knowing and defending the sea, because as the motto of Txikiziklo says and as the French explorer Jacques Cousteau said “the best way to defend the sea is to love it, and not you love what you don’t know.”

On the occasion of International Children’s Day, a representation of the Royal Society went to the Donostia Hospital yesterday to share smiles with the admitted txikis. Some members of our field hockey team, assistant coach Poli Guajardo and player Laida Arrillaga visited the children and brought them their best smile and various gifts to make their stay at the hospital more bearable.
