NAC Breda extends Playing for Success programme
Teamplay@NAC, the community foundation of NAC Breda is expanding its Playing for Success project to all primary school pupils in Breda. From the school year 2018-19, all pupils from primary schools and schools for special education within the working area of the Regional Partnership Breda Primary Education can participate in Playing for Success.
Playing for Success Breda develops and provides support that contributes to the social and cognitive development of pupils in primary education, special (primary) education and secondary vocational education. A positive self-image and gaining self-confidence are important to perform well in school. The social environment of NAC Breda plays a very important role in the guidance of the children and young people. Professional educators developed the special concept and provide support. They are assisted by students from various relevant studies at the Avans University of Applied Sciences.
According to the teachers of schools from which the participants originate, the project is so successful because the selected ‘underachievers’ have the privilege to gain experience in an exclusive and popular environment. The social and physical environment of NAC provides positive effects for the participants. “At NAC, my students are unconsciously engaged in learning, gaining success experiences and thus increasing their self-confidence,” a teacher said. An important point is that the effects are often structural and therefore also of great benefit for the pupils in the long term.
The collaboration between Teamplay@NAC and RSV Breda PO ensures that this school year, more than 300 students from special or primary education can benefit from the Playing for Success project. The number of potential participants grows by 50% compared to previous school years.
