SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY: THE LFP EXTENDS ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH STADIUMGO
The French Professional Football League, LFP, is renewing its partnership with the StadiumGO carpooling platform to enable football fans to carpool for journeys to the stadium and thus reduce their environmental impact.
Partnering since 2019, the LFP and StadiumGO are extending their collaboration to encourage the development of fan carpooling for Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT matches. This agreement is part of the LFP’s CSR strategy, of which the ecological transition is one of the pillars.
This undertaking was made following the action taken by the French Professional Football League (Ligue de Football Professionnel) as well as Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT clubs to reduce their energy consumption as part of their plan introduced in 2022. Among the actions undertaken by the LFPs and clubs was a national communication campaign to encourage fans to use sustainable transport (public transport, carpooling, active mobility) to get to the stadium.
The campaign, which began on January 26 and ran throughout the second half of the season, saw the LFP and numerous clubs publish on their social networks catchphrases combining football and sustainable mobility in order to raise fans’ awareness and highlight the transport solutions available in each stadium. This is a necessary step in raising awareness, as spectator travel is a major factor in greenhouse gas emissions when matches are organised.
The LFP and the clubs are therefore keen to make a commitment in this area. 78% of clubs now offer their supporters a car-sharing solution thanks to a partnership with a platform such as StadiumGO. The latter offers its users car-sharing adverts dedicated exclusively to sporting events, either home or away games, enabling supporters to find the most suitable journey for their needs.
To encourage spectators to use this solution, some of the clubs associated with StadiumGO are offering certain benefits to car-poolers. As a result, more than 700 parking spaces have been distributed this season to reward car-pooling by supporters.
