Start Valerenga Role models project
Role model project will start up this fall, and will be a collaboration between the Valerenga and Grorud Football clubs, a primary school, a middle school and a high school in each district. The project will identify, recruit, develop and examine 24 role models each year. Students will become role models for younger students in PE classes and open training ground in neighborhoods once a week. The role models will be at least four years older than the students.
The project wants to use role models to create good norms, values and enjoyment of sport in the schools. The role models will be assistants in PE classes and in the sports ground. The role models involvement will give an opportunity to give more children positive and individual attention, and more children will and have a better chance to master things and have positive experiences. The role models will set an example of good behavior and attitudes.
The project will have an open training arena one day a week after school. This is a great integration arena where everyone is equal regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, motivation and skill level. Valerenga and Grorud A-team players will visit schools and talk about what it means to be a good role model.
