Standard de Liège Switches to Reusable Cups!
As of the match against Hertha Berlin on Friday 21 July, the Sclessin stadium, home of Standard de Liège, has switched to reusable Ecocup cups to make their home matches more eco-responsible by going from disposable to sustainable.
This ecological step forward, in line with Standard Liege’s CSR philosophy, will be achieved thanks to the Ecocup by Re-uz and the support of Maes.
In concrete terms, from this Friday 21 July, Maes beer, Maes 0.00%, Fuze Tea and Desperados will be consumed in Standard de Liège branded 40cl reusable cups, which can be paid with a cashless card with an additional 1 euro deposit.
There will then be 2 options:
- either return your cup to the bar and get your deposit back.
- or you can take it home as a souvenir, but you will not be able to bring it back to the stadium at a future match for hygiene reasons.
In view of the European directive banning single-use cups from 01 July 2023, we have been working internally to find the best solution for our supporters to comply with this new regulation. We are therefore delighted to present the 40cl Ecocup with our club logo. It was also ideal, in order to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible, to work with the Re-uz company, based in Grâce-Hollogne, for this order and to monitor the regular washing of these new cups.
