EFDN members share best practices at Staff Exchange in Budapest
Staff members of Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Links Park Community Trust (Montrose FC), Inter Campus, Feyenoord Rotterdam and host Ferencvárosi TC came together in Budapest for a “Scoring for Education” Staff Exchange. The participants shared their ideas, methodologies and experiences to enhance the quality of the education projects of their clubs.
The first day of the Exchange began with a short introduction and presentations from all the delegations of the clubs. After that, the participants worked in mixed groups and developed concepts for STEM education programmes. The first day ended with a stadium tour and a networking dinner.
On the 2nd day of the exchange, the group started with a study visit to the ‘Fradi school’ programme. Two athletes of the club explained the pupils of a sports school the importance and chances of a dual career. Later on, the staff members discussed with the professional player Leandro about the opportunities and challenges of being a role model. In the afternoon, the group discussed how the stadium can be used as a classroom in different football based educational programmes.
Combining football and mathematics
The 3rd day of our Staff Exchange in Budapest started with a warm-up delivered by Bayer Leverkusen. The German club and Feyenoord Rotterdam led the practical sessions in the morning. Bayer 04 presented various sport and team building activities and afterwards, Feyenoord presented the group how to combine football and mathematics. The staff members had to measure with different techniques and needed to draw the lines on the pitch. In the afternoon, the group made another study visit to the projects of Inter Campus in Hungary. The football session and the Q&A in the children’s home were very interesting for the participants.
Concepts for new programmes
The 4th and last day of our EFDN Exchange ‘Scoring for Education’ in Budapest began with the presentations of a new group assignment. The participants developed non-formal learning concepts for programmes that combine STEM education, environmental protection and sustainability.
After another group discussion and evaluation of the week, all the participants from Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Inter Campus, Feyenoord Rotterdam, Links Park Community Trust and host Ferencvárosi Torna Club received their Youth passes.
EFDN would like to thank Ferencvaros for hosting this inspiring exchange and all the participating clubs for their input and energy. The exchange was possible thanks to co-funding of the Erasmus Plus Programme of the European Union.
