Sportanddev Call for Articles On Inclusion of Persons With Disability in Sport

EFDN members have the chance to highlight their excellent disability projects and programmes. The International Platform for Sport and Development (Sportanddev) is looking for articles in the run up to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December. In recognition of the forthcoming International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December, they are inviting organisations to submit articles on the issue of including persons with disabilities in sport.

Submissions will be accepted from organisations highlighting how they are working on the issue or as an individual sharing their views on the topic. Sportanddev welcomes articles on a range of subjects, but individuals and organisations can also consider the following:

•  How they include persons with disabilities in programmes, policies, organisations and communities?
• What two to three challenges they confront when working to include persons with disabilities in sport, and how they you seek to overcome them?  
• What information and resources they would you like to see and have in their work toward including persons with disabilities in sport? 
• What are two to three innovative ideas, tips, solutions or recommendations they would like to share and pass on to others with respect to including persons with disabilities in sport?
• Are sport for development organisations doing enough to include persons with disabilities in their programmes? How can a wider variety of organisations be encouraged to include persons with disabilities? 
• What are your views on the current state of policies related to this topic? What policies from governments or sports federations would lead to more effective inclusion of persons with disabilities in sport? 
• What do you see as future opportunities for including persons with disabilities in sport?

Contributions can also explore other issues and topics; articles should ideally be 500-800 words and submitted by Friday 13 December. An article on the Welcome Through Football EFDN programme was recently featured in a Sportanddev series on refugees and sport. We encourage EFDN members to submit articles on the projects they implement relating to including persons with disabilities in sport.
