Social inclusion- Schalke 04 fulfils dream of children from TV Schiefbahn
Schalke 04’s last game of the season against Hamburger SV was a very special one. In cooperation with Schalke hilft! and the Knappenschmiede-Club, 46 children with a disability were invited to escort the FC Schalke 04 players on the pitch in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
The TV Schiefbahn 1899 e.V. focuses since years on the social inclusion of children with a disability. A particular focus of their work is set on increasing the children’s possibilities of taking part in physical activities jointly with children without a disability and thereby contributing to social inclusion.
An approach, which is fully supported by Schalke hilft! and the Knappenkids-Club. For that reason, Schalke 04 invited the sport-loving children from TV Schiefbahn 1899 to last week’s game. At the match, the children’s dream of escorting the players on the pitch was fulfilled.
A unique experience
When arriving at the VELTINS- Arena, each child received a red coloured jersey and had the opportunity to take part in a re-enacted interview at the official club media area.
It did not take long until the children finally met their idols from the Schalke 04 first team in the players’ tunnel.
For the children from the TV Schiefbahn it was a unique experience, especially, since the fans in the stadium were performing a studied choreography, which led to a very impressive atmosphere.
