SIDFOOT project partner welcomes Ukrainian refugees
The aim of the SIDFOOT project is to promote physical activity and social inclusion in disconnected neighbourhoods through sport. Community drivers play a key role in the SIDFOOT methodology. They act as role models and motivate children and youth to move, play and adapt to a healthier lifestyle.
This week, Danish club Aalborg BK had a visit from the 9-year-old Ukrainian player Alan. Alan’s family ended up in Aalborg due to the terrible situation in Ukraine. The family with mother and siblings is safe in Aalborg, while the father is still in Ukraine. Alan trains with the club’s U9 boys and the smile on Alan is huge when the ball rolls.

EFDN is one of in total 8 programme partners that are delivering the Pan-European programme SIDFOOT (“Community Football Drivers for social inclusion in deprived districts”) which is a collaborative partnership funded by the Erasmus+ programme. Our member Real Betis Balompié Foundation is the coordinator of the project that found its inspiration in the figure of Jorge Morillo, who has dedicated his entire life to help the most disadvantaged people of Seville, especially those who are living in deprived areas of the city.
