SIDFOOT Project Coordination Meeting
On the 2nd March 2022, the SIDFOOT project partners met in person at the facilities of the FFIB (Balearic Islands Football Federation). The project managers, involved shared their updates on the programme delivery moderated by Rafael Muela from programme coordinator and EFDN member Real Betis Balompié Foundation.
The partner organisations delivering the Pan-European programme SIDFOOT (“Community Football Drivers for social inclusion in deprived districts”) are the European Football for Development Network, the Universitat de les Illes Balears, Liverpool City Council, Aalborg BK, Wiener SC, Save the Dream/ ICSS, Brasov Metropolitan Agency for Sustainable Development and Fare network.
Real Betis Balompié Foundation found its inspiration in the figure of Jorge Morillo, who has dedicated his entire life to help the most disadvantaged people of Seville, especially those who are living in deprived areas of the city. The general objective of this project is to make use of the huge potential of football as a tool to promote social inclusion and a healthier life for children and young people living in disadvantaged neighborhoods. SIDFOOT focuses on having a positive influence on the lives of children and young people living in deprived areas and involves activities that will steer young people towards education in values and the creation of healthy environments.
After the official welcome and introduction by Mr. Miquel Bestard, President of FFIB, Ms. Francisca Comas, DIrector of the department of pedagogy and Specific didactics of UIB, Mr. Carles Gonyalons, General Director of Sports, Government of the Balearic Islands and Mr. Rafael Muela, Project Director at FRBB, the project director gave a brief review on the Work Plan progresses and current situation to give an overview of the project.
Later, the representatives of FRBB and UIB presented the creation and equipment of the “Community Football Drivers” including information about the educational package, participant selection, content knowledge and user satisfaction concerning the administration, a period of mixed training for a pilot sample as well as the development of a pilot experience to evaluate the performance.
Afterwards, Maria Lopez-Puchades, project manager at EFDN, presented the dissemination and exploitation of results meaning the project website as well as the specific tasks and their importance of commitment of every partner.
In the afternoon, Rafael Muela presented the project management and coordination including the project extension due to COVID-19, the transfer of budget and the management, budgeting and reporting. Afterwards, together with the ICSS representative, he presented the quality assurance and monitoring as well as external evaluation.
The last topic before the end of the session was the coordination of the meeting schedule, the next steps and questions.
