Show Racism the Red Card meeting in Glasgow
From 22nd until 24th October, EFDN and its Show Racism the Red Card project partners come together for the second project meeting in Glasgow.
EFDN comes together with Brentford FC, Chelsea FC, Club Brugge, Ferencvárosi TC, Inter Milan, Rangers Charity Foundation, SL Benfica, Werder Bremen and Show Racism the Red Card the Netherlands to discuss the methodology, finance and reporting. Furthermore, the project participants talk about the workbooks which will be created for partner schools of the clubs. The new programme includes not only awareness campaigns in stadiums and in grassroots clubs but also the education of young people and adults in schools, workplaces and at events held in football stadiums. The aim of the programme is to fight racism and discrimination in society by using the power and outreach of football.
Recent incidents during the national match Bulgaria against England and elsewhere show that there is action needed. Therefore, EFDN, together with its partners, has developed a comprehensive programme based on a holistic approach. The participating clubs use their own networks to engage with schools, community partners and grassroots clubs during the programme. Everyone can show their commitment to the fight against racism and discrimination by using #diversitywins on social media. The second day of the meeting will see the launch of a video including players and other staff from the collaborating partners promoting the hashtag and our programme.
