Shakhtar players visit training sessions for girls with special needs

Shakhtar captain Andriy Pyatov and striker Danylo Sikan visited school No. 124 in Kharkiv, where Shakhtar Social, together with Special Olympics Ukraine and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA Ukraine), holds football sessions for a team of girls with special needs every weekend. The Shakhtar players trained together with the girls, signed autographs and had a group photo taken.

“Football is considered the number one sport in the world. We, the players, should support such projects,” says Shakhtar captain Andriy Pyatov. “I’m impressed with the heroism of the parents and coaches. These are our children and they deserve the very best.”

“We, just like these girls, get charged with positive emotions after such meetings,” the Shakhtar forward Danylo Sikan shares his impressions. “It’s always nice to chat with kids. We’ll try our best to motivate them to continue doing sports.”

Disability football and women’s football will also be two of the many subjects discussed during the 14th EFDN Conference in Breda, on the 24th and 25th of March. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to take part in related presentations and many other discussions. You can find more information about the Conference here.
