SDG Striker Team meeting in Barcelona
For the first physical project meeting, the SDG Striker team met in Barcelona on the 29th and 30th September 2021. Even though there are still Covid restrictions, some of the partners, like Energieinstitut an der Johannes Kepler Universität Linz (EI-JKU), the Norwegian FA, and Bryan Lucas as Project manager on behalf of EFDN, have been able to travel to the venue to join the host of the meeting Ecoserveis.
For two days, the project partners spoke about the diverse actions to take to move forward in this project. The agenda was created to talk about the pilots of the project.
The Norwegian FA presented their current work about greener alternatives instead of microplastics for creating pitches. With the presentation of diverse solutions, the pilot has created a first testing pitch which will be followed by analysis and survey to assess the potential of the current solution.
Concerning the Scottish FA, talking about energy poverty, they presented an overall strategy around their mythic stadium, home of Scotland, Hampden Park. This project will present eco-friendly solutions in terms of mobility strategy for example.
Then, the Portuguese Football Federation exposed its project regarding solar energy. Already though, we have been able to see the potential structure and implementation of future solar panels on the headquarters of the federation.
To conclude, Ecoserveis allowed us to discover a place that got a platinum label through the LEED certificate. From the building to the kitchen of the restaurant, we have been able to see and discover a place that thought about each aspect of building construction. If you travel to Barcelona, we invite you to visit the Vil·la Urània, a complex facility using minimal energy consumption and limiting its carbon footprint.
