Scoring for Health (UEFA) partners review first delivery phase

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, EFDN and the partners of the Scoring for Health project (funded by UEFA Foundation for Children) had to cancel the 3rd International Project meeting in Breda. Instead, they all took part in a webinar.

Scoring for Health is a Pan-European programme that encourages children from the ages of 7 to 13, and their parents, to adopt a healthy lifestyle and make them aware of the value of eating healthily and being active.

As research carried out by the World Health Organization has shown, obesity remains an important public health problem in Europe. Therefore, Scoring for Health, with its 2 ½ year programme, aims to prevent childhood obesity, support the development of healthy dietary preferences and promote physical exercise from an early age. Moreover, the programme aims to inspire other grassroots and professional football organisations to face the issue of childhood obesity and provide opportunities for learning and tackling the problem to an even wider audience.

Discussing the first delivery phase

During the webinar, each project partner gave an update on their implementation of the project. In addition, the partners discussed positive aspects and challenges that have been observed during the first delivery and testing phase. All project partners have already started to publish news, photos and videos from their first activities. The project partners talked also about finance, monitoring and evaluation and the editing of the existing workbooks and teacher’s manual. The next international project meeting will be held at the 14th EFDN Conference in Breda on the 10th & 11th of November 2020.

The Scoring for Health project runs in cooperation with 6 EDFN member clubs in 5 different countries, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, the UK and Ukraine; the clubs being:

  • Brentford FC
  • Chelsea FC
  • Club Brugge
  • Feyenoord
  • Legia Warsaw
  • Shakhtar Donetsk
