Scoring for Health session at the supermarket with Randers FC
The Scoring for Health project is well underway at project partner Randers FC. The students were excited about being allowed to take the players’ bus the first men’s team of the club takes as well. They were extra careful not to damage anything. “I have never been as excited to be on a bus before” said one participant.
The students were taking a trip to the supermarket to work with the nutritional labels on products to check for ingredients, calories, etc. They previously learned about what elite athletes put in their body regarding healthy nutrition and put their knowledge to the test in the supermarket. That way it’s easier for them to make informed decisions on what they and their families eat on a daily basis.
Scoring for Health (EU) aims to tackle the problem of childhood obesity which, as identified by the World Health Organization, is still a critical issue throughout Europe today. With the underlying target of promoting a healthy diet and lifestyle amongst children, their families and wider communities across Europe, the programme supports the 3rd UN Sustainable Development Goal of Good Health and Well Being and is funded by Erasmus+. Scoring for Health encourages children from 7 to 14 years and their parents to adopt a healthy lifestyle and make them aware of healthy nutrition. This programme will be running for 3 years, where 3 periods of 20 weeks of various activities will be delivered by the participating football clubs and the Portuguese FA in cooperation with local schools and health organisations.
