Big Hearts: MATCHDAY FOODBANK COLLECTION
Big Hearts Comunity Trust’s third foodbank collection in aid of Community One Stop Shop – the local food bank in Broomhouse, will take place on Sunday 2nd December prior to the game Hearts vs Rangers.
Hundreds of local people will struggle to feed their family during the festive season. The Broomhouse foodbank is expecting a very high demand in food supplies to get through the 18 days of school holidays and the first weeks of the New Year.
The Big Hearts Community Trust is encouraging its fans to help these local families in crisis by donating food supplies before the game Hearts vs Rangers. The main drop-off point will be at the Foundation Plaza (McLeod Street), where Big Hearts Volunteers will be on hand from 10:30 am until kick-off at 12 pm.
Urgently needed: tinned meals (stew, chilli, meatballs…), tins of vegetables, tins of meat or fish, UHT or powdered milk, rice, cereals, soups and other long shelf life products.
Any item donated on the day will be transported back to Broomhouse and used to provide free bags of food to vulnerable individuals and families during the festive season.
Thanks to Big Hearts’ partner Jambos Kickback, the supporters do also have the opportunity to donate money online until the 5th December – click here to visit the page. The money raised will enable to buy additional supplies such as fresh fruits, bread and toiletries. The Jambos Kickback’s Board has kindly offered to cover all online service fees, which means that 100% of every pound donated will go directly to Community One Stop Shop!
Last year, the generosity of Hearts fans contributed to 800kgs of supplies collected and £2,000 raised – helping support 167 vulnerable families for a whole month. This fantastic achievement is aimed to be surpassed by the 5th of December, in order to positively impact the lives of even more families in crisis at Christmas time.
