Samen RKC announces participation in new Eredivisie Community Champions programme

Samen RKC and Tavenu start with social service time for youngsters by taking part in the Eredivisie Community Champions programme. In cooperation with Youth Centre Tavenu, Samen RKC is looking for new talents who want to make the difference with a social service time in their own city! As of 7 March 2022, these participants will follow a fifteen-week programme to develop themselves further.

What is social service time?

RKC Waalwijk and Tavenu together use their appeal and the social power of football to reach and involve young people in a unique football-based MDT (social service time) pathway. This opportunity for young people not only to get involved but also to become a real ambassador for ‘their’ club is both motivating and status-enhancing. Moreover, the participating young people get the chance to give something back to their own neighbourhood.

The MDT course consists partly of a group process, but offers enough room for an individual (learning) process in which the personal interests and talents of the individual youth are considered.

Participants will:

  • Learn how sport/football can motivate and stimulate people.
  • Learn from top athletes what steps they had to take to reach their dreams.
  • Search for their unique talents through workshops and training sessions.
  • Work with skills such as creativity, communication, innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Experience what their club and they together can mean to their neighbourhood.
  • Learn what it takes to achieve a top performance.
  • Get to work with digital skills such as communication, programming and social media.
  • Learn that sport is both physical and mental.
