Saints Foundation supports the vaccination rollout in Southampton

Volunteers from Saints Foundation have been working with Solent NHS Trust to support the rollout of the city’s vaccination programme.

A team of 20 Foundation staff assisted NHS professionals at the Royal South Hants Hospital, where over 1,000 Southampton residents received their vaccination against coronavirus this weekend.

The volunteers provided a friendly and reassuring presence as they guided patients through the clinic. The majority of people who received the vaccine were aged 80 and above.

This marks the second time that Saints Foundation has supported these clinics. Volunteers from the charity helped manage the flow of patients at one of the city’s very first vaccination clinics, back in mid-December.

Head of Saints Foundation Greg Baker said: “It’s been great to support Solent NHS Trust with the rollout of the coronavirus vaccine here in Southampton.

“We’re all very grateful for the work of the NHS during this pandemic, so it’s an honour to be able to help out where we can.

“It’s rewarding to be even a small part of this big step to getting our city and our community back to better times.”

Saints Foundation and Southampton Football Club have recently announced a partnership with Solent NHS Trust. The collaboration aims to use the collective expertise of the organisations to promote health and wellbeing across the local community.
