Recap – Day 2 of EFDN’s Making Football Matter Conference in Athens!

The second day of the EFDN ‘Making Football Matter’ Conference in Athens featured a full programme! The day started with the General Assembly for the members, followed by the official opening of Caj Sohal, Ton Strooband and Georgios Kosmas.

After the presentations of Angeliki Arkadi about the CSR activities of AEK Athens, we went on with the first panel of the day about the Welcome through Football project. We continued with the presentations of all shortlisted clubs for the More than Football Award 2023: KRC Genk Foundation, Legia Foundation, FCM Samfund and St Johnstone Community Trust.

After the lunch, attendees could participate various break-outsessions in the press room and in the players tunnel of the OPAP Arena. The programme featured two break-outsessions of GRI, IFK Göteborg, Wolves Foundation, All-in & Win, various EFDN Projects and many more! In addition to this our CEO, Hubert Rovers, gave an update on our projects regarding this conference’s theme ‘Making Football Matter’.

Apart from the programme during the day in the OPAP Arena, there was the highly anticipated More than Football Award Gala Dinner at the beautiful venue of the Acropolis Museum. As voted by all the attending member clubs at the 20th EFDN Conference, the Winner of the More than Football Award 2023 the best social initiative delivered by a European Club, League or FA, is #ReadyToHelp Refugees from Ukraine from the Legia Foundation! Congratulations to our Polish member on winning the award!
