Real Betis supports the restoration of coral in the Mediterranean Sea

Real Betis, Eleven and the Blue Life Foundation join forces to promote, through sport, regenerative culture and the protection of biodiversity.

Real Betis, represented by Rafael Gordillo, president of the Foundation, and Rafael Muela, manager of the green and white entity, have travelled this week to Ibiza to participate in an action of collecting fruits, which will serve as seeds to restore the Posidonia meadow of Puig des Molins and sharing the mission of the Forever Green project during the forum of Regenerative Culture, Tourism and Sustainability that has been held this week on the island. This action was the first of those that Real Betis, Eleven and the Blue Life Foundation will implement together within the collaboration agreement signed between the three entities that aims to promote, through sport, regenerative culture and the protection of biodiversity.

The agreement signed between the Real Betis Balompié Foundation through its sustainability platform Forever Green, Eleven and the Blue Life Foundation, has an initial duration of four years and includes actions for the conservation and restoration of the marine environment, especially coral populations and Posidonia oceanica meadows in the Mediterranean. The participation in the Plogging Tour is the first sports and ecology tour in Europe and the Real Betis Balompié Foundation will visit several Spanish cities, and a Plogging event “Do Sport for the Planet”. The event will be held on 30 September 2023 in the city of Seville with the collaboration of the Seville City Council, the IMD, sports clubs and local entities.

“We are very excited about this partnership and what it represents for both parties. It actively reinforces, once again, the power of sport, and in this case football, to contribute to improving people’s quality of life, to restore ecosystems, to protect the planet and to raise awareness of the regenerative culture among society and organisations.

Oscar Caro, President of the Blue Life Foundation and CEO of Eleven

The green and white club, through Forever Green, allies with Eleven and the Blue Life Foundation with the mission of strengthening its green identity and leadership in the fight against climate change and in the protection of the planet, being a sustainability platform of reference for companies and organisations that want to use the power of football to protect the planet.
