Real Betis: Campaign for the prevention of forest fires

The Real Betis Balompié Foundation has launched a campaign to raise awareness of the threat of forest fires, most of which are caused by human error. Through its Foundation and Forever Green, the green and white club has made a spot with the participation of the players in which they advocate for the care of natural spaces to avoid forest fires.

This action is part of the social emergency programme of the Real Betis Balompié Foundation, which aims to provide service and relief to society in emergency situations. In addition, the campaign is aligned with Forever Green, the Real Betis sustainability project that seeks the power of football to add allies in the fight against climate change and that places the club as one of the most committed to the environment.

Thus, the green and white club has launched a spot of the campaign starring Real Betis Balompié players. Aitor Ruibal and Édgar encourage responsibility to avoid the forest fires that are happening in our country.

“It’s time to act and take care of our environment as you would take care of the grass in our stadium. Don’t throw cigarette butts on the ground and don’t throw rubbish out of the bins,”.

So far this year, 182,497 hectares of forest have been destroyed by fires in Spain. In six and a half months only 7,000 hectares less have burned than in the whole of 2012, when a record 189,376 hectares burned. Faced with this situation, Real Betis wanted to act and help by launching this awareness campaign. This campaign will be published on the Foundation’s social networks and will be present in the advertising blocks of Betis TV during the rest of July, August and mid-September, months in which the risk of forest fires is higher.
