Rangers Charity Foundation Donates £15,000 to its Armed Forces Partners

The Rangers Charity Foundation is delighted to announce a donation of £15,000 to three services-related charities as part of its Armed Forces Fund Partnership for season 2022/23.

The Armed Forces Fund supports different services-related charities each year and for season 2022/23, the Foundation chose to support SSAFA, Combat Stress and Poppyscotland with the donation. The Foundation has donated over £241,000 in cash to armed forces and veterans’ charities to date, as well as providing significant in-kind support.

“We are proud to be able to make this donation to our armed forces charity partners and are very grateful to the Rangers Family who have supported our fundraising efforts to make this possible. As Gold Award holders in the MOD’s Employer Recognition Scheme and with a long history of support for the armed forces and veterans, it is very important for the charity foundation to make a lasting difference via its Armed Forces Fund. We also continue our charitable work throughout the year supporting serving personnel and veterans in the community and with the club, celebrating Armed Forces Day at Ibrox and marking Remembrance at a dedicated match.”

Connal Cochrane, Chief Executive at Rangers Charity Foundation

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity provides support for those who are currently serving or have served as a regular or reserve, in the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army or the Royal Air Force, as well as their families. It provides personalised face-to-face support, whether it is financial, practical, or emotional.

“On behalf of the clients of SSAFA in Glasgow, I’m extremely grateful to Rangers Charity Foundation for its generous contribution to our work throughout 2022-2023. Funding like this from Rangers Charity Foundation is driving positive, meaningful, and lasting change that benefits every member of the military family in their time of need in this city. Put simply, without the support from Rangers, the impact and reach of our work – which improves and changes lives – would be hampered, and so we greatly appreciate this commitment to SSAFA and its operations.”

David Black, SSAFA’s Fundraising Development Manager for Scotland

Poppyscotland has been supporting service men and women, veterans, and their families since 1921 in recognition of their sacrifices and service. The charity has helped countless men, women and families with issues linked to their time in the Armed Forces or with struggles adjusting from military to civilian life.

“Once again Poppyscotland are delighted to be recognised by the Rangers Charity Foundation and the wider Rangers family as a recipient of this very generous donation. It will help ensure that we are there for any member of the Armed Forces community in Scotland, showing that together we are all Behind Them. Always.”

Gordon Michie, Poppyscotland’s Head of Fundraising and Learning

Combat Stress is the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health. For over a century, the charity has been helping former servicemen and women deal with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. Today Combat Stress provides specialist treatment and support for veterans from every service and conflict, focusing on those with complex mental health issues related to their military service.

“I would like to thank the Rangers Charity Foundation for their very generous donation. This money will ensure we can continue to deliver our specialist treatment and support to thousands of former servicemen and women across the UK with complex mental health issues.”
