Rangers Charity Foundation and the Academy team join forces against sectarianism
Because of their participation in the UEFA Youth League, Rangers Football Club’s Development Squad received a money prize to spend in community work. Together with the Ranger Charity Foundation, they decided to use the money to deliver anti-sectarianism awareness workshops in schools of the Glasgow area, reaching more than 300 students. One of these schools was St. Blane Primary, which the team visited for a Q&A session with the players from the Academy team.
The main goals of the project are to break down barriers between young people from different backgrounds, celebrate diversity and promote equality. Hopefully, this will inspire young people to take the messages learned during the workshops and share it, promoting anti-bullying and tolerance.
This programme falls under the umbrella of the campaign “Everyone Anyone“, that since its launch in 2019 aims to cherish diversity while uniting people from different backgrounds.
“The programme is based on the kids taking part in fun football activities and a sectarianism workshop. The kids will learn a bit about sectarianism and what is means and this will empower them and give them the knowledge to enable them to make better, informed decisions and take that message back home and share it with their parents.” says Keiran Reilly, Rangers Charity Foundation Community Executive.
